In 1986, the brand was sold to the Italian concern Cagiva and became part of MV Agusta Motor SpA, also known as Huskies, or Husky. Production of Husqvarna sports bikes with two- and four-stroke engines with displacement from 124 to 503 cc was launched in Italy the following year. In addition, the company began producing road bikes. The first of these was the dual-purpose model WRE125, released in 1993. It was equipped with a single-cylinder two-stroke engine with a capacity of 124 cc and 31 hp. In 1997, the TE610E debuted with a 577-horsepower 50 hp four-stroke engine. In the early 2000s the company's lineup included motorcycles for racing 'supermotard' and children's cross bikes. In the fall of 2000 came the model Husqvarna Nox with 570 cc engine, which develops more than 60 hp. He gets an elongated frame envelope, which provided a sleek silhouette with a narrow and straight backrest. In addition, the bike used a titanium muffler.
On July 19, 2007, BMW Motorrad Group bought Husqvarna Motorcycles for €93,000,000. The German owner has not changed anything in the technical content of motorcycles, or in marketing policy. Production was still carried out in the Italian town of Varese.
In 2011, the brand showed a concept model Strada at the motorcycle show in Paris, and in the next year released TR 650 Terra and TR 650 Strada, developed in collaboration with BMW. The first was an off-road motorcycle, while the second was a motard. Both versions were powered by a 652cc BMW G650GS engine rated at 58 hp. The engine was further developed, with an injection system, camshaft and compression ratio changed. The Strada model is equipped with ABS as standard. On January 31, 2013 BMW Group representatives announced that KTM AG acquired a full stake in Husqvarna AG. The company was renamed Husqvarna Motorcycle GmbH. Its headquarters were moved to the Austrian town of Mattighofen, where production continues today.
